1.一般过去时表示过去发生的事,动词用过去式:
Where were you yesterday?
你昨天去哪里去了?
HOW long did you stay there?
在那里待了多久?
Did you sleep well?
你睡好吗?
The baby cried all night.
宝宝哭了一夜。

2.过去式有两类,一类为规则动词,它们的过去式都以现在式加一ed词尾构成,
一般情况下直接加-ed,如work—worked,want—wanted。原词若以字母e结尾,则只加一d,如live—lived,free—freed,以“辅音+Y”结尾的词,变y为i,再加-ed:cry—cried,marry—married,以读闭音节结尾,末又只有一个辅音字母者,将该字母双写再加-ed:plan—planned,permit—permitted。另一类为不规则动词,如do-did go-went see—saw have—had。

一般过去时的否定、疑问及简短回答的形式可表示如下
肯定句I(He,She,We,You,They)went by bus.
否定句 I(He,She,We,You,They) didn't go by bus.
疑问句 Did I (he,she,we,you,they) go by bus? 简短回答 Yes,I(he,she,we,you,they)did(肯定)或者No,I(he,she,we,you,they) didn't.(否定)

动词be的肯定,否定,疑问简短回答形式如下
肯定句 I(He,She)was there. We(You,They) were there.
否定句I(He,She) wasn't there. We(You,They) weren't there.
疑问句 Was I(He,She) there? were we(you,they)there?
简短回答 Yes,I(He,She) was. We(You,They) were. (肯定)或者 No,I(He,She) wasn't. We(You,They)weren't (否定)
